Essential Oil

The major volatiles were dodecanal (54.25%), followed by decanal (18.72%), geraniol (1.82%), β-farnesene (1.73%), α-caryophyllene (1.72%), 1-dodecanol (1.63%) and β-caryophyllene oxide (1.51%). Aldehydes (75.43%) constitute the most abundant proportion of the essential oil. Meanwhile, the highest number of compounds was identified in the terpenoid group (13.19%). β-farnesene, α-caryophyllene, β-caryophyllene oxide, β-selinene, α-bergamotene, germacrene D and δ-cadinene were the major (RA >1%) sesquiterpenes detected. Thirteen alcohol compounds were identified and contributed to only 8.07% of the total composition. Geraniol, 1-dodecanol, α-bisabolol and nerolidol were the four most abundant alcohols found. Other minor compounds included one monoterpene (bornyl acetate), which accounted for 0.91%, and two organic acids, which were found in low amounts.
